High Point YachtFest 2010 – Which destination?!

We have already started thinking about the 2010 destination for www.highpointyachtfest.eu . It has to be in the Mediterranean, but while the fleet is small we need to use that to visit smaller places where bigger fleet can not fit. Three top destinations for this sailing event (to take place in October 2010) are: Sardinia and Corsica, Elba, south/west coast of Italy, from Salerno. We would not exclude Greece either. So the question is, where can one still expect some nice and warm weather in October but also have some good winds. We shall be looking into interesting places as many like meeting different cultures and tasting different cuisine. We shall be sailing again for a week, from port to port (or anchorage). This event, although competitive, is ideal for any kind of experience, so the beginners are very welcome!

Regatta in Croatia, October 2009

We have just returned from our www.highpointyachtfest.eu sailing regatta in Croatia and realized, once again, that sailing, socializing and networking go incredibly well together. We were so lucky with the beautiful weather too bearing in mind that we are in October. We took over the sailing boats in Kastela, nr Split. We had sailing yachts Elan 434 and Elan 384 in the fleet. We then sailed to Trogir for the Welcome Party. Trogir is one of the best preserved towns in Dalmatia and one of the most beautiful ones too. The old town centre is well worth visiting and is a perfect host for these kinds of sailing events as well as for the private charter. The ACI Marina is positioned right across the waterfront of the old town. One can not wish for a more lovely view. On Sunday we started our regatta and sailed from Trogir, via the island of Solta to the Lucice anchorage. On Monday, we sailed from Lucice to Hvar. On Tuesday we sailed from Hvar to Palmizana, the Pakleni archipelago. On Wednesday we sailed from Palmizana to Vis. On Thursday we sailed from Vis to Maslinica (island Solta). On Friday we sailed from Maslinica to Trogir for our Prize Giving dinner in the old town centre. On Saturday morning we returned the boats in the Kastela marina.
We swam, we dined very well, mostly in the local restaurants that we pre booked for our crews. We sailed in the afternoons as that is when we had the most of the winds.
The Central Dalmatia is a fantastic area for a sailing holiday, a regatta or any kind of sailing event. The choice of sailing boats is very good and there are plenty of marinas, anchorages and lovely ports that give a number of options for different routes.

Adriatic Holidays offers 10 identical Bavaria 47 Cruisers (2009) perfect for a regatta, corporate trip or a flotilla of friends wishing to have some fun sailing together. The Bavaria 47 boats are based in Biograd and available for different terms of charter:

Short charter periods:
(short charter price = weekly price divided by 7 days and multiplied by a number of charter days)

1 day charter = short charter price + 100%
2 day charter = short charter price + 100%
3 day charter = short charter price + 20%
4 day charter = short charter price + 15%
5 day charter = short charter price
6 day charter = short charter price

Euros 1,500 for a charter

The deposit is payable by credit cards or cash (credit card payments not cashed unless required) directly to the charter company when checking in.

One-way charter is possible but an additional fee may apply.

The client skipper must be in possession of a certificate of competence (internationally recognised) in order to charter a bareboat, including the licence of authorization to operate the radio-telephone station on the yacht. If the client does not possess the said certificate, he must take a skipper at extra charge. The boat must be returned clean with full tanks of petrol and water to the marina by 18.00hrs on the final Friday. Disembarkation is on the final Saturday morning by 09.00hrs.

The tax of cca 1 EUR/person/day is expected to be paid in cash at one-time basis upon the arrival to any charter starting base. The payment settles the whole charter stay in Croatia.
