2013 High Point YachtFest (HPYF) – Trogir, Croatia

6th High Point YachtFest was held in Croatia this year, at the end of September. We sailed around Dalmatian islands. For many of us, this was certainly not the first time, but we could come back again and again to this, what we consider to be, one of the most beautiful areas of the Mediterranean. This year we had 11 boats participating in the event.

The event was again a huge success. It felt like HPYF has come of age. As Henrietta, from Holland, said: ‘It feels like coming home!’

We started and finished in Trogir, one of the most beautiful towns on the Adriatic (or even in the World I should say).
Thanks to Zoran Bradic of C&C, our local expert, we managed to see the best of the area: Komiza and Vis, Hvar and Pakleni archipelago, Solta, Krknjasi, Trogir.
We tasted delicious food and wine at the restaurants: ‘VAL’ in Vis, ‘BAKO’ in in Komiza and  ‘PASSAROLA’ in Hvar.
We had our Gormet ‘Roux’ night at the Krknjasi bay – we anchored all 11 boats alongside. Each boat prepared
a delicious meal and we shared it all on three biggest boats, with some delicious local wine, good music and a lot of fun. Tori’s chocolate mousse was a fantastic surprise!

But the highlight of the event was the wedding of Ernesto and Jan Marie! This was certainly the first for us! It made this HPYF the most romantic event so far. The wedding ceremony and celebration were in one of the Pakleni islands bay, with all the boats anchored together, joining in the home-made ceremony, music performance and party. It was magical!

We were very lucky to have both Welcome and Prize Giving parties in the old town centre of Trogir, with the final party held in the Kamerlengo Fortress.

Congratulations to our new commodore David Barlow and his team on a great victory and fantastic performance! We very much look forward to challenge you next year!

In 2014, we will be going back to the roots of HPYF – Gocek, Turkey. One of our favourite sailing destinations.
We hope you can join us there, we have so much to share with you…
