Business Sailing/Team Building
Build an Effective Team. Become an Effective leader. Enjoy yourself.
Sailing is risky and uncertain. To manage that risk and overcome that uncertainty requires planning, organisation, discipline and commitment. It also requires a crew that know each other, understand each other and work for each other. You, your team and your business can all benefit from the lessons to be learned at sea. Making a successful voyage, like building a successful business, is also fun and rewarding.
WE PROVIDE:
• experienced ship leaders who also have proved their suitability as “captains of industry”
• support on board of professional coaches and management consultants
• AS-IS analysis of the current situation
• Clarification of the targets concerning the Management Performance Improvement Programme
• Determination of the contents, procedures and time frames of the exercise
• Organization and delivery of the necessary preparations ashore, travel and accommodation arrangements and any other logistical requirements
• yachts equipped with most modern equipment and safety engineering
• aftercare operations ashore (follow-up workshop) on demand
• Whether you’re trying to win the “Admirals Cup” or become a market leader in your field you need clear objectives, the right equipment and a strong team.
• Different conditions, whether at sea or in the market will require you to develop different strategies, adopt different courses and require you to calibrate your team to achieve your targets.
• Real success is only achieved through strong and effective guidance translating jointly agreed targets into concerted and effective team action. The base for strong and effective guidance is a firmly established team identity. With this in place the unique resources of each individual member of the team can be mobilised effectively.
Life on board a sailing boat can forge a team and shape its identity. Making it a success requires clear rules and well defined obligations for individuals to foster close and effective cooperation. The experience fosters personal skills such as readiness, self-reliance, responsibility and discipline. Mutual acceptance and appreciation are indispensable.
These are exactly the same factors that govern the successful managing of a team in a corporate environment. At sea jointly achieved success becomes a highly practical experience, visibly reinforcing the old adage: “the whole is more than a sum of its parts”.
Individual Programme Outline
You will receive an individual timetable on the basis of a detailed analysis of your initial position and your targets to develop your Management Performance.
Together we will determine the plan to make you and your team stronger. In executing the plan both on shore and on the sailing boat you will
• develop new, creative ideas, to enhance products and develop outstanding management decisions
• develop a stable identity within your team
• check your targets for suitability
• enhance your negotiating skills
• recognize and develop individual abilities within the team
• develop conflict resolution strategies to enhance team interaction.
• strengthen the personal decision making and responsibility of yourself and your team
• develop an understanding of how lessons learned sailing at sea can be transferred into professional, everyday life
These are just a few possible directions in which to develop yourself and your team while on board.
Finally, and not least, you will have a lot of fun and pleasure by acting jointly with others in beautiful surrounding. Leaving everyday life behind, while sharing moments of freedom and relaxation with the companions of our daily lives reinforces human relationships and unites teams.
We are very supportive of the project: The Ark of Ideas. It is an international communication campaign that aims to bring the subject of climate change down from the heights of summit meetings to eye and sea level, proposing new ways to engage the public at large towards responsibility and action.
